Scanning Your Resume

Skillsyncer lets you paste in both your resume and a job description. It then scans your resume for keywords that appear in the job description, and lets you see those keywords.

AI and Privacy: When you upload or paste in your resume, be sure you have removed your personal information at the top so that it is not stored in SkillSyncer’s database.

Not all of the description is necessary, so be intentional about the parts you include. The most relevant sections are usually Required and Preferred Qualifications and Key Responsibilities.

Use SkillSyncer's interactive functions to review and remove items tagged as keywords that may not actually be relevant to application review.

  • Example job description text: “Munchkin’s Product Design Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience and exposure to a career in the consumer products industry. Munchkin develops innovative, modern, and credible products for babies and children that make parents' lives easier and more enjoyable by thinking of ‘the little things.’”

  • "Babies" and "children" are tagged as keywords by Skillsyncer for this role. Neither are necessary to add to a resume in order to demonstrate eligibility.

See how your resume matches

The next step is to read your report. The match score is a numerical value that expresses how well the keywords in your resume match the keywords in the job description.

Of the keyword categories, the hard skills match is the most important, according to a number of recruiters.

The match report will include a Job Match Score, Keyword Analysis, and Common Resume Checks to help you refine your resume.
